Ukrainian allows the adjectives in either order. In English the order of adjectives is fixed.
a beautiful old Italian leather bag
Opinion, age, origin, material.
a leather old beautiful bag

This article explains the order of adjectives before a noun and why some words stand closer to it than others.
Order of adjectives
Adjectives before a noun come in an almost fixed order, and native speakers hear every slip.
| Order | Meaning | Example |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | opinion | lovely, useful |
| 2 | size | large, tiny |
| 3 | age | old, new |
| 4 | shape | round, square |
| 5 | colour | black, red |
| 6 | origin | Italian, Ukrainian |
| 7 | material | leather, wooden |
| 8 | purpose | writing, running |
a lovely old Italian leather writing desk
Opinion, age, origin, material, purpose.
The closer a word is to the noun, the more tightly it is tied to it. Leather desk is almost one idea, while lovely is just an opinion. In practice more than three adjectives before a noun are rare.
Common mistakes
The first mistake is colour before size.
a red big balloon → a big red balloon
Size comes first.
The second mistake is material before origin.
a leather Italian bag → an Italian leather bag
Material stands closer to the noun.
The third mistake is purpose in the wrong place.
a writing leather desk → a leather writing desk
Purpose stands closest.
All three mistakes show if you ask what each adjective means. Size comes before colour, origin before material, and purpose stands closest to the noun.
